Hi.
I’m Anna. Simply put, I’m married to my high-school sweetheart, a mother of three, and sister to four brothers.
I like to laugh. One doesn’t survive the oddities of being raised in a houseful of brothers without a sense of humor. And speaking of oddities, two of my kids call me Susan. I’d tell you how I got that moniker, but this book took me nine years to write and I’m a little behind on laundry.
How did I come to write historical fiction? Well, history has always fascinated me. For a while I considered pursuing a degree in archaeology, but beginner’s algebra at the college level proved incredibly difficult, so I took a break and got married instead.
Ten years, and two energetic little boys later, we brought our daughter home from Russia. She was the catalyst for my writing. Through studying her Central Asian lineage, my passion was reignited. On the page I sought to weave a thread connecting my daughter to the beauty of the land and her rich ancestral history.
Through countless hours of research and rewrites the task, at times, felt herculean, but God placed within me a burning desire to tell a story. I agreed, of course, but only with the promise that algebra would not be involved.
