Book News

After nine years, countless drafts, and much weeping and gnashing of teeth, I’ve finished writing the first book in the Silk Road series. It’s been a monumental task.

So what comes next?

I suppose it’s time to dip my toes into the publishing side of the book writing pool. For now, I’ve set my sights on the traditional publishing route and have begun querying agents who might be interested in representing my book to publishing houses. The process is both slow and humbling, but alas, it must be done. After all, I didn’t spend years writing this book only to have it gather dust in a three-ring binder.

Between writing letters, submitting proposals, and waiting for responses from agents, I’m also in the outlining stage for my second book in the Silk Road series. I don’t have a working title for that one yet, just a lot of ideas, a few plot points, and interesting characters swimming in my mind.

While I make the slow march toward publishing, keep an eye out for my monthly newsletter – or sign up if you haven’t already. Inside, I’ll include updates, book related giveaways, and acquaint you with my story world set in 7th century Samarkand, the ancient trade city along the Silk Road. I’m a researcher at heart and have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the vast history of this ancient city, as well as the people that once inhabited it. I hope you enjoy it too.

Interesting fact: Did you know Samarkand was once the northernmost part of the ancient Persian empire? I’ll tell you more about it in the coming months.
